Hi, it’s Nadia.
Last time I made a post was in January. Back then, I was talking about how excited I was to start my new job as a Product Designer at Corus Entertainment. June is my 6 months with the company. SAY WHATTTTTTTTTTTT
In 6 months, so much else has happened - I moved into a place of my own, I sought therapy, and I finally made friends in Toronto, thanks to Bumble BFF.
The original plan with my Substack in January was to stick to a cadence and write lots about work and life - because I wrote a lot in university, writing is a hobby I still enjoy. Unfortunately, life just gets busy. And I abandoned my Substack for those 6 months.
You also want to know why? My toxic trait is signing up for so many online things (particularly mentoring at hackathons) and burning myself out.
Another toxic trait is writing walls of text, so that it looks like I was productive with the end result. But I always overthink - not just in terms of what to write, but even the vocabulary to use in the next sentence. I want to sound ~*~*well-rounded*~*~ and ~*~*intelligent*~*~
I don’t want to make this blog post long. I had originally planned to describe in full detail, seriously - what has happened in each month out of the 6 months that have elapsed. But once again, those toxic traits just keep coming back!!!
I still want to make my Substack a repository of the things I’ve learned in my UX design career, and my life lessons too. I’ve learned so much at Corus over these last 6 months that I want to transform this work diary I keep on Notion into posts for your reading and learning sake.
I’ll go over my Notion and see what I can talk about on here for the next bit. In the meantime, I did finally publish that article on Medium of my job hunting process back in late 2021, so please check that out. I guess it was so good that Bootcamp reached out to me and asked me to feature it on their publication, so I feel proud that one of the biggest UX publications out there have recognized my work.
Cheers,
